How to Care for Your Naturally Hand-Dyed Yarn

Each skein of our yarn is hand-dyed using natural dyes derived from flowers, roots , leaves— a process that celebrates nature’s palette and results in subtle variations that make every piece unique.

To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your yarn and finished projects, please follow these care guidelines:

1. Gentle Washing

Hand-wash only in cool or lukewarm water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent or wool wash. Avoid hot water, as it may cause felting or color shifts.

2. Minimal Agitation

Gently squeeze (don’t rub or wring) your yarn or garment. Natural dyes are more delicate than synthetic ones, so treat them with care.

3. Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse until the water runs clear. A small amount of color release during the first few washes is normal — especially for richly dyed shades.

4. Drying

Roll in a towel to remove excess water, then lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight, which can fade natural colors over time.

5. Storage

Store your yarn in a cool, dry place away from strong light and moisture. A breathable cotton bag works best to let the fibers rest naturally.

Remember: The beauty of natural dyes lies in their living color — subtle, organic, and ever-evolving. Slight variations and gentle fading over time are part of what makes hand-dyed yarns so special.
